The Howardian Hills AONB covers 79 square miles of the North Yorkshire countryside, nestled between the North York Moors National Park, the Yorkshire Wolds and the Vale of York – with many miles of great walks.

It is a unique and captivating landscape with its well-wooded rolling countryside, patchwork of arable and pasture fields, scenic villages and historic country houses with classic parkland landscapes.

Kilburn White Horse is the most northerly turf-cut figure in Britain and one of the most famous landmarks in North Yorkshire, dating back to 1857. At 314 feet long and 228 feet high it's easily visible from the south, below Sutton Bank.
